We build for the integrator

Our catalogue includes over 200 drivers covering more than 1000 devices, and continues to grow.  Alongside the drivers, we’ve developed tools like SIMPLified, Theme Creator and Config-to-Code that take the friction out of an integrator’s day-to-day work, supporting faster, more reliable project delivery.

Product highlight

It’s apparently not just the British who are obsessed with the weather!  So many customers asked us to build support for local weather stations, we invested in a few popular models and we’ve built a collection drivers that support both local and cloud based weather data systems.  Not only does this provide convenient and accurate access to the current weather (without looking out of the window!) but your automation solutions can also respond to important weather events, closing windows when it rains, or retracting awnings when it gets windy.

Dependable solutions for integrators

Our catalogue exists to solve the problems integrators encounter every day; providing the glue between devices and platforms, eliminating complexity, and enabling you to offer your clients sophisticated, reliable solutions that you can deliver with confidence.  We know first hand what it’s like to have to deliver demanding solutions on time and against a budget, and that’s why we focus on quality; so you can rest assured that an integration will deliver when the client needs it, and you have Ultamation’s best-in-class support if you do hit any obstacles.

Beyond the device and value-added Crestron integration products in our catalogue, Ultamation also develops productivity tools, utilities and graphics resources designed to save you programming time and raise the quality of every project. Our aim is to lift the standard of home automation across the board; the better we do that job, the less you need to lean on us, and the more time you can spend nurturing your customers rather than responding to their issues.

Our process

Every driver we build follows a structured development process.  This starts with a feasibility assessment to evaluate technical viability and commercial fit before a single line of code is written.  We then document the requirements and design, create a detailed test plan covering functional requirements and edge cases, and track all development work through tickets so nothing gets missed.

Once development is underway, every piece of work goes through human peer code-review before it’s merged, and no driver is released without passing every test case in its plan.  We also work with beta testers before public release, gathering real-world feedback and resolving any issues before any product reaches the wider market.  Our focus is on quality and accountability, not simply trusting AI to get something out of the door.

Launching a product is a milestone; not the end of the journey.  Our development model is deliberately geared to incentivise continued feature development to exploit products to their maximum potential and provide best-in-class support to integrators.  Integration was where Ultamation began, so we understand the need for dependable solutions and the reassurance of a responsive helping-hand when it’s occasionally needed.

Any questions?

Here are some common questions - for anything else, we'd be happy to hear from you.

Do I have to pay for a driver to use it?
Most of our drivers do have a licence fee to use them, and you should always check the specific licencing terms for any driver as they do differ - and some are free!  Most drivers also offer a try-before-you-buy, fully-functional, time-limited trial so you can be sure the driver offers the right solution before you commit.
How much would it cost to develop a driver?
Our commercial model doesn't follow the more traditional one so it's impossible to give a guide here.  What our model does do is incentivise Ultamation to write code of the highest quality, maintain it for as long as the product is in the market, and provide best-in-class support to integrators.  If you can see there's a driver-shaped-gap in the market that needs filling, please submit a request via the form at the bottom of the page.
Can I try a driver before purchasing a licence?
Most of our drivers do offer a fully-functional, time-limited trial so you can be confident that the product ticks all of the boxes for your project.  The trial period lasts for 1-hour and starts every time you restart your program/system.  Once you're happy, buy a licence and reboot to enable the fully licenced product.  We cannot offer a trial for products that incur downstream costs (subscriptions etc.)
How can I become a Beta tester?
We greatly value the benefits that beta testers can provide in adding polish to drivers and testing use cases we might have overlooked.  Beta testing does require a level of commitment; Beta testers must be in a position to test against real equipment, dedicate sufficient time to explore the complete functionality and provide structured feedback.  We'll announce Beta testing opportunities as they arise via our mailing list - sign up for our mailing list below!
Which control systems do you support?
Our heritage is firmly with Crestron - both custom and Home - and this is our primary focus.  As our catalogue grows, we recognise there is an opportunity to apply the same knowledge and rigour to other platforms.  If you have a specific need, let us know - we're always happy to discuss opportunities that are a good fit with our expertise.
